Maria Carpenter, LPN, Selected as March 2022 Service Excellence Superstar

Two co-workers nominated Maria Carpenter, LPN working in Acute Care at Curry General Hospital for a wonderful demonstration of compassion. Maria was selected as March 2022 Service Excellence Superstar.

The first co-worker wrote, "Maria was an excellent example of the kind of nurse and care CHN strives to offer our community! She showed compassion for a patient's personal needs by going above and beyond to get a patient discharged just in time to make the last bus stop in Gold Beach for the night! She got him out and watched him board the bus. If he had missed that leg of public transit, his night would have been greatly affected. I am so proud to be her coworker!"

The second co-worker agreed. "Maria went above and beyond for a patient she was discharging. The patient uses public transportation. Upon looking at the bus schedule, Maria saw he had 5 minutes to catch the last bus of the evening. She quickly discharged the patient and made him her priority. If she took even one minute longer on the discharge, he would have missed his bus home."
